Greetings, my fellow citizens! This is Gabriele, reporting in from CITIZN - a tech company on a mission to empower individuals to be an active part of their country's democratic process. Unfortunately, recent global political trends have shown a decline in democratic institutions despite the growth of the latter worldwide in the past century.

According to the 2021 Freedom House report, global freedom has been declining for 15 consecutive years, with approximately 35% of the world's population living in "not free" countries. The 2021 V-Dem report identifies 25 countries undergoing autocratization, affecting around 34% of the global population. Additionally, civil liberties have significantly declined in around 35% of the world's population over the past decade.

Now, some of you may be wondering why democracy matters - aside from, you know, not living in a dictatorship. Well, democratic countries experience higher economic growth, better human development indicators, and have not engaged in wars with each other since World War II. So, yeah, it's pretty important.

At CITIZN, we're not just sitting on our thumbs while democracy slips through our fingers. We believe in the importance of creating a fair and democratic society, and we're determined to make that a reality. Using cutting-edge technology like AI and Big Data, we'll provide citizens with a platform to confront their elected officials and discuss the laws being debated in parliament. Our goal is to shift passive viewers into active decision-makers, giving citizens as much power as their representatives. It's a cosmic shift in a world where censorship and quasi-coups are becoming all too common.
